The 5 Biggest Mistakes I Made in My Forex Journey (And What They Taught Me)
When I started trading, I didn’t know how deep this journey would challenge me—not just financially, but mentally and emotionally. I made painful mistakes that cost me not only money but time, confidence, and even relationships. If you’re just starting out or struggling right now, this post is for you.

1. Chasing Trades Without a Plan
At the beginning, I treated the market like a game of chance. I jumped into trades based on instinct, excitement, and noise from social media.
📉 Result? I blew multiple accounts.
Lesson: Always wait for your setup. Have a strategy and follow it with discipline. No plan = no progress.
2. Risking Too Much Per Trade
There were times I risked 10%, even 20% of my account on one trade because I was “so sure” it would work. When it didn’t… 💥
Lesson: No matter how confident you feel, stick to low, controlled risk. I now trade with 1% or less per setup. Consistency beats excitement.
3. Ignoring Trading Psychology
I knew charts. I knew setups. But I didn’t know myself. I let fear stop me from taking good trades. I let greed turn small wins into huge losses. And revenge trading? Don’t even ask.
Lesson: Mastering your emotions is the real edge. Until I worked on my mindset, nothing else worked.
4. Switching Strategies Too Often
I moved from one strategy to another every few weeks. If something didn’t work immediately, I abandoned it.
Lesson: No strategy works without proper testing and patience. Focus, track results, and refine one system before jumping to another.
5. Trading to Impress, Not to Win
In my early days, I traded to prove I was smart. To flex in screenshots. To show friends I was “killing it.” The result? I got killed.
Lesson: Humility is underrated. Real traders don’t trade to look good—they trade to grow. Quiet consistency always wins.
Conclusion
Each mistake brought pain, but also perspective. Today, I’m not perfect—but I’m focused, disciplined, and transparent about this journey.
💡 If you’ve made any of these mistakes, you’re not alone. Learn from my losses—don’t repeat them.
